Wish Us Luck!

Heading out of town to rehearse for my mom's wedding today. I am so nervous about my little flower girl/ring bearers to be. The wedding starts at their usual bed time so I feel like we already have one strike against us. I am hoping that with enough bribery, we can make it down the aisle without any tears. Heaven help me if any dogs are in the vicinity.

Gracie practiced a bit last night with a "princess flower girl blanket dress" around her shoulders and throwing garden markers and blocks out of her purse/basket. A rough dress rehearsal for sure, but I think some progress was made. At least she is no longer saying she will be throwing flowers AT Grammy, but ON the ground.

I cannot wait to see my little guys in their suits and Tate carrying the Banner that says "Here Comes The Bride" should be adorable.

I'll be back Sunday with pictures and (hopefully) good news to share.

Not here

I'm not here because summer has FINALLY come to Seattle! We are outside enjoying the weather and spending time with friends here from out of town. We all did a 5K yesterday (me looking ridiculous with the triple stroller) in honor our our friend Jordan that passed away.

Also, my MOM is getting married this week! Her bachelorette party was last night and I am waist deep in programs and wedding favors.

In about a week I will exhale and get back to our regular programming.

Bonk!

We bottomed out in a drive way the other day while driving the kids. Being ever so observant, they exclaimed that the van had gotten a bonk and needed medical attention (a band-aid) immediately.

Even after a 30 minute drive home, they did not forget like I was hoping

Now, if we didn't look cool enough cruising around in our white mini-van, it features this on the bumper:

Try not to be jealous.

Bath Night

This makes it sound like more of an event than I mean it to. We do bathe them often, but they were too cute not to take pictures of this time, is what I mean.

Benny Bear. I can't believe he's almost 2!

My Grace Noel. Funny thing about the towel she's wearing, Sean and I bought it when we were 18 (you read that right) when I worked at a department store in high school. We knew we wanted to have kids and get married some day so we bought a matching set of baby towels and onesies to pack away. It's fun for us whenever we use them :)

Some cute ones of Benny and Daddy

And Tate, clearly annoyed I keep taking his picture during Sesame Street

Last thing to do before bedtime-Airplanes!

Extra Income

I don't know about you guys, but our paychecks are always stretched thin. I get paid hourly where I teach and it's tough call for me to work extra hours (to get extra $$) or to rush home to my kids (to get extra time!). It's an ongoing debate. So I try to find little ways to earn extra money to not only ease the pressure I feel, but also to earn treats for myself (i.e. coffee!)

Here are a few things I've been doing, I'd love to hear yours!
1. Fill out surveys. I make $3 for every survey I do for Pinecone Research. I would've thought this was a scam if my friend hadn't suggested it first. It's not a ton of money, maybe one a week-ish. But that's buys me the occasional cup of coffee from Metropolitan Market. I also got sent 52 diapers once to try out, that was an awesome money saver! But I don't get to test products very often.

2. Blogher reviews. I signed up my blog for the wait list a loooong time ago and just recently got approved. I don't get enough hits on here to make a lot from advertising, but I am able to review books and other random things they send me for $25 a pop. Right now I am reading a new book in (gasp!) hardback and that's a treat in itself! When I publish what I thought of it, I get paid. That is a treat for my husband. ;)

3. Free Samples. Okay, not actual money in the bank, but since I have started signing up for free samples my mailbox has become a lot more exciting. I only sign up for stuff we actually use because I don't need to become that crazy old lady with drawers full of sugar packets. It stretches grocery trips out the slightest bit and maybe I get to try a brand we don't usually splurge on. 20 minutes ago I realized I was out of laundry soap and found a sample of Purex I had stashed. Feels like a win to me! There are a ton of pages on Facebook that will keep you updated on freebies and deals out there, I think I follow three or four and I generally sign up for a sample every day or so. 4-8 weeks later, surprise! My favorite is the magazine deals. Right now I get 5 magazines and 3 are totally free. Two, I paid about $4.00 for a subscription.

4. Craigslist. I troll this sites FREE section almost daily. I don't go crazy with it, but every so often there will be something we have been needing/wanting that someone else is just giving away! For example, our washer broke last summer-free New (to us) washer on Craiglslist! 5 months later our dryer broke (joy!) and again, found a replacement online. Also, I really wanted a desk for a room downstairs and there are a ton for free every week. I picked one and they even delivered it for us for $10.00. Much better than splurging on a new desk and makes me happier than going without. Note: Pay attention to measurements. My new desk didn't fit through the doorway I had planned on. We use it in another space, but this will save you from feeling like an idiot in front of your husband.

There you have it, hope this helps!

Cute Conversations

I have to save these somewhere since I neglect their baby books so badly...

Benny got a big boy hair cut:
I wanted to cry because he looks so different and grown up. All his sweet, wispy curls are gone!

Gracie: Mama, why you sad?
Me: Because Benny looks so different
G: Don't be sad, he's still your favorite friend!
Me: I know, he just doesn't look like Benny right now.
G: He still is your Benny Mama.
Me: You're right, he is.

At bed time last night G and T are fighting in their room.
Me: Grace, stop yelling now.
G: I'll think about it.
Me: Um, there's nothing TO think about. Just stop yelling.
G: I SAID, I'm thinking about it!

She's 3 going on 16 already.

Benny VS. Mama

We made cookies and I gave him one.

He wants another.

Me: Sorry buddy, only one.

B: "But my 'nother one!"

Me: Nope, here, have a banana.

B: Hmmmm, it's ok...

B: Nevermind, take it your stupid banana back *throws it on the counter*, I want a COOKIE

Me: Nope.

B: Then I get it myself

B: You're so smug.

B: Fine, I'll use this arm extender...thing.

Me: No such luck, buddy.
B: *whine*

B: You leave me know choice, but to call in the big guns. "Dadddddddyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!"

He may have won this round, but I'll be back.

So Far This Weekend...

4 day weekend!

So far we've had a little swimming at Grammy's new pool. 1st time for all 3 of them!

A little grocery shopping

A little gardening with daddy (excuse Gracie's weird outfit. daddy just changed her)

A little cookie baking

and a little down time (so I could get some chores done).

I'm currently resting after an exciting morning of parades and waiting for the kids to wake up from nap so we can commence part II of the day's festivities. Hoping I the kids can stay awake to see their first fireworks.

Happy 4th Everyone!
