So I don't forget

Tate stood up and walked pushing his friend's bus toy yesterday without us helping!
Gracie stood and let go of the furniture for a couple of seconds on Monday!

I really need to write in those baby books before all this stuff is GONE.

Pics from the Park

Sunshine!

It's so how funny how the sun changes our entire routine!  Especially in Seattle, when we have a sunny weekend we have to seize the day!  We have been to the park, eating ice cream, on wagon rides and today to a BBQ with wonderful friends. The twins even enjoyed a dip in their little baby pool! My only regret is that Tate was a grump all afternoon-crying, whining and generally miserable.  They just don't like to do their afternoon nap at other people's houses?  They hardly sleep and then are monsters. I feel so bad, but don't want to run home either. I think they still had fun, but Tate went to bed about 45 min early, just exhausted.

My new concern is how to navigate this whole baby feeding thing. I am not a great cook and just don't know what in general to feed these guys! We are trying a  lot of things my friends are suggesting, but I don't know. Tonight they basically ate a big pile of mixed veggies. Is that bad? I made some noodles (plain because I couldn't stand another night of cleaning up tomato sauce this week), but they wanted nothing to do with them. They spat them out over and over. Darn, I thought that was going to be an easy dinner fix!  I did ravioli last night with mixed reviews, but seriously, SUCH A MESS! Am I being unrealistic or should I just expect every meal time is going to be like that? Just when i think I have once stage down, these kiddos throw me for a loop. The good news is that we are totally off bottles and formula since a few days ago. We just stopped giving it once our stockpile ran out and they haven't seemed to care in the slightest! Wahoo! I was so nervous about that transition!

5 Minutes

I have the day off from work today, but I had a list of errands a mile long and a doctor appt. so we took the babies to daycare anyway.  Why is it that when I have "free time" it flies by? I seriously have blinked, maybe twice and have running around all day. I went to work for a few hours (A teacher's job is never done) and have been driving all over. I just got back from the grocery store and am going to pick up the twins, but I thought wait. a. minute. I am taking this 5 minutes. I am going to eat this Popsicle and check my blog, I am going to sit in silence and enjoy it. I've earned this much. I won't let my mommy guilt creep in. I'm going to relish it and then resume my mommy duties.  The world won't end. Nobody will know. But I will and I'm the one who needs the breather, this 5 minutes may well fuel me for the next 4 hours until baby bed time.  The time and the Popsicle are both delicious.

On My Own

I am home alone with the twins this weekend.  Sean went to Vegas on his annual guys trip. I stayed one night with a friend  and last night at my mom's.  I cannot sleep without my husband and further more I am too chicken to stay home for a weekend all alone. I'm sure I could do it, but the amount of anxiety and stress would not be worth it.  As it was I felt like a poor hobo mother carrying around all of our belonging in a plastic bag because our luggage is in storage. I cried as I drove to a friend's 1st bday party for her son because I didn't know how we would all get out of the car. I am 28 weeks pg now and it is getting o difficult for me to get around with them. To make things worse Tate has been in a very clingy mood all weekend.  I'm not sure if it's daddy being gone or moving from place to place or a new tooth perhaps? Thank goodness Gracie compensated by being an angel all weekend, totally flexible and happy to play alone or wait her turn. Daddy comes home tonight thank God.  Even though it's after I will already have to feed the babies dinner and put them to bed on my own, just knowing he is coming is a help! People keep asking me what I am going to do when we have three. The answer is I don't know. Cry? Drink heavily? Probably just do it, like we have done with the twins. You just find a way to do things because you don't have an option.  The upside is that you get to spend every day with these hilarious little people that love us more than anyone else in the world. So I'll take it.

Happy Mother's Day to all the hard working mommies out there!
