Stuck

Seems this little boy is not interested in joining us. For the 3rd week in a row I am stuck at 1 cm and just 50% effaced. He has been moving like crazy and I have been having what I *think* are contractions, but no dice. I am due in 8 days so if he hasn't come by next thursday we will start talking induction. Awesome. Because I so LOVED being induced last time.

Anyway, it was 102 here today. Maybe he is waiting until it is a cooler temp outside my belly than inside.

Way Back When-esday

Event: Beat the Summer Heat
When: Last August
Age: 4 months old

This was hanging out at a friend's in the shade. It was nowhere NEAR the 100 degree weather we are having this summer thank goodness. Gracie wore no diaper to air out a nasty diaper rash.

A few weeks later we went to Grandma and Grandpa's in California and took our first dip in a swimming pool! They handled it great and were EXHAUSTED afterwards.

Desperate Times...

Perhaps the hardest decision we've had to make regarding our little ones thus far. To steal back what was rightfully ours or suffer in silence as they blissfully slept and we would likely not?

It was still in the high 80's (after a 93 degree day) when we put them to bed last night in diapers. Tate could not get comfortable and I can't blame him, I was/am huge and swollen from the heat. We decided to put our ONE fan in their room facing the cribs to make them for comfortable. It worked like a charm and as we sweat in the living room we patted ourselves on the back for being such selfless parents.

Fast forward 2 hours. All the stores we know of are sold out of fans.

It's OUR bed time. My husband has an unhealthy addiction to the fan. Seriously, he can't sleep without it blowing inches from his face. He's made due before, but not in the heat and not with a very pregnant and sweaty wife. We checked the monitor over and over. The babies were sleeping. It had cooled down in their room. We would just walk in and take it. No big deal, right? Wrong.
Sean is in there for a while and comes out empty handed. "You've got to see this" he says, so I go in as stealth as I can and see our little bear squished up against the crib sleeping so that the fan is blowing right on his face-JUST like daddy. Uh oh. He clearly has taken to the fan and is enjoying it. Now how do we take it? We sat on the floor weighing the options and every time Tate would roll or wiggle we'd have to lay down to make sure he didn't see us. Finally, we crawled out of the room without it. We tried to sleep, but no such luck. I sent Sean back and he stole the fan. It was glorious. We swore that if the babies woke up we would have returned it, but I that was to ease out guilt. Tate rolled around in bed, but never "officially" woke up we decided.

I dunked my head in the sink and enjoyed the cool breeze on my face. It may make us bad parents to put our comfort above theirs, but given they woke up smiley (albeit sweaty), I think I can live with it this time.

Prayers!

Stellan is in the hospital again and really needs your prayers!

Heat Wave

We live in Seattle for a reason. If I wanted Vegas like temperatures, I would live in Vegas! Ok, I'm exaggerating a little, but temps in the 90's is NOT fun for a prego like myself or my little ones. Nap time is falling apart before my eyes and whining is at an all time high in the late afternoons. Mommy is SWOLLEN from my cankles to my knees and we of course, have no A/C. The babies are napping (talking, playing in their cribs) now and I am going to out my feet up for as long as I can. To beat the heat yesterday we went to our friends' house to use their kiddie pool and a/c house while they are on vacation. The babies were whiny here and there, but I think had a great time. Just like sand at the beach, they wanted to drink all the water in the pool- ew. Did not see that one coming either. Stay cool wherever you are!

13 Days

until this little guy is due! I think we finally picked a name. We have settled on Bennett ;) I love Ben, but we felt like Benjamin was too plain for us. Also, our song is a Tony Bennett one and I think that is sweet. We are almost ready for him. I still have some organizing and cleaning to do, but we have the bare essentials that if he came tonight we'd be ok. That's a step! I feel more confident and ready that we can handle another baby than I did a few months ago. We are in this together and though I still get uneasy when people ask me "how are you going to do it!?" I just say that we will. God is in control! We are going to be a family of 5 soon! Crazy! But how can I not love faces like these:

Way Back When-esday

Event: Baby's First Snow
Age: 8 months Old

In honor of the upcoming 90+ degree heat we will have this week (and how swollen my ankles are), I needed a reminder of something COOL. The twinnies loved the snow (as much as they could) and it was worth getting all bundled up to brave the freezing cold. Afterwards, we had warm bottles and hot chocolate at home!
