Sick and Sicker

We are drowning in illness over here. They have had colds since LAST weekend, bust just when I thought they were on the mend yesterday Tate barfs all over me (1st real throw up! What a milestone) then we realize Gracie has a fever.  Today they are up too early and they still have their raging coughs. We called the doc about their coughs last Monday, but they said without a fever it was fine (even though Gracie was literally honking). Which brings me to my little girl- she has a fever of 101 today along with just being plain miserable.  Coughing up a lung and now I am afraid pink eye in BOTH eyes!  They started gooping (probably not a word) this morning and it's juts increased since then. They are red exactly, but either way she is lethargic, just wants to lay on us to sleep and then my poking around her eye makes her cry, and cry.....and cry.  It's truly pathetic to look at her. Gladly, she is still eating her bottle. I don't want to add dehydration to the mix.  Sean is going to take her to the doc tomorrow.  I won't take no for an answer!  We called the on call doc tonight and he never called back! Rude!  Anyway, we are blessed that they are still sleeping through the night even with sickness and Tate's 3 new teeth growing in. I am praying for a better tomorrow!

Prayers and Support

Hello All,

As some of you MoM's are aware a fellow member of our message boards has received the worst kind of news this week.  Her sweet baby girls have been diagnosed with Werdnig-Hoffman Disease. It is untreatable.  I am posting a link on my blog for anyone who would like to donate in an effort help ease their financial burden during this time as well as some meaningful gifts like a photographer to capture some of the precious time they have left.  Please donate anything you can, and keep them in your prayers in the coming weeks/months.

We are all reminded to cherish what we have in times like these and my heart breaks for this family.

SAHM for a Day

It's been awhile since I've been home alone with the twins for an entire day.  We don't have school today and I didn't need to send them to daycare for anything else.  We are having a nice morning, though Gracie is currently fussing because she can't figure out how to walk in her big toy.  They both have non-stop runny noses so I am glad to give them another day at home to get better. I am debating about packing them up and going somewhere today. Not sure if it's worth all the effort though. We could walk the mall or something, but all that loading and unloading of car seats wipes me out (thank you first trimester).  I am thankful for the sun we have been having! So nice to have bright days, even if it is 30 degrees out still. Looks like my time is up-babies need to go down for a nap.

Teeth Count:
Tate has 2 on bottom, one growing on top and a third coming in on bottom.
Gracie is still working on her bottom 2, but they are poking through more now.

Why, oh, why won't my little girl eat?  Does she want to be on the bottle until she is 16? She takes one or two bites of food if we are lucky and then nothing. It's getting a little ridiculous. I want to start trying more finger foods, but I feel like we are stuck if she still doesn't want the puree.

I am trying to not to get depressed watching the scale creep back up (due to my new pregnancy) when I just spent 8 months on weight watchers losing the most of the weight from the twins.  It is hard to face that I won't have my body back until fall though. Enough whining. I have a couple of days off from teaching for in-service and that is a treat.  I might even get a haircut! I got my last cut the week before the babies were born, so I am due!  Nothing exciting to share tonight I guess, I am just thanking God that I have babies who sleep through the night every night and that are happy and healthy because I know we take these things for granted sometimes. There are other MoM's still working hard to get there with their little ones and I really have been blessed!

No title, just felt like I could be posting more.
The babies are well. Sort of. They have colds that I think were brought on by teething(?) and are slowly getting back to eating normal amounts.  They are taking full bottles well, but Gracie still refuses to eat solid food.  It's been about 2 weeks now, almost 3!  She will take one bite, maybe and CRY. I feel so bad, she just wants her bottle.  I have no idea what it is, she was eating all sorts of veggies just fine. I am wondering if it's the teething combined with flem in her tummy (sorry gross) just making it not appealing.   I am just glad she's taken her bottles back so at least she is hydrated.  After barfing all over me, and I mean ALL over me 3 days in a row, Tater seems to be keeping his food down today, ah, but the night is young.  He has also taken to a 2 hour nap from 5-7 before bed time feeding at 7!  It's nice to have the break, but I feel bad Sean only sees him for like 25 minutes before bed time for the night.  Gracie is up after 40 minutes of sleep on the dot,   so we get more play time with her.   Tater is sitting up and pulling himself up now.  In fact he pulled himself to a seated position from laying on his boppy while I fed them today! First time ever, it was crazy! He just wanted to grab Gracie's feet. ;)

I really want to go see a movie so I am thinking of a sitter for this coming weekend. I am just missing some "me" time. I'm sure all moms could use a little more.  I mean it's great I have been reading again for fun since the twins are in bed earlier and I have friends to chat with at work (other than first graders), but I'd like to get out a little more. I am missing my girlfriends and my spontaneous self. In pg news, I am 10 weeks and not showing yet, trying to stay in my post/pre prego clothes as long as possible.  I loathe those maternity pants and am in no hurry to unpack them. I'm also trying to keep it quiet at work so I can delay all those jokes and comments about how many kids we are going to have in diapers now, blah blah.  We don't think it's funny-like ha ha funny, or poor you funny. I think I'm just sensitive to it since we went through that a little bit when people found out we were having twins in the first place.  You know how strangers have their off handed remarks at the grocery store and people who know you feel even more freedom to tease you.  I never thought it was funny.  We tried desperately for 3 years to get pregnant and our twins were nothing short of a miracle! I don't take it lightly or for granted. Anyone who says "Oh I'd kill myself if I had twins" I want to punch in the face (figuratively of course). Add a new born 15 months later and I know what people will say and think. I know the intent isn't malicious, but I don't want to hear it anyway. I feel like they are implying we have made some huge mistake and I can't accept that. ANYWAYS. Rant over. Maybe those hormones are already in full swing.

8 Months

The twinnies are 8 months old now, unbelievable.
Gracie is finally sprouting her first tooth, which we are thinking is why she is refusing solid food and only taking a little formula. Tater's teeth make his smile look completely different! I am excited for Gracie girl to get on the tooth train, but I am a little sad thinking I will never have that same gummy grin from her again. Nothing quite like the chubby cheeks and all gums.  They have also really taken to "Dada" the last couple of days.  That's all we hear is dadaddadadadadaddadadaddadada all day and night. Can't say I'm not a little jealous. ;) They said mama first, but not very consistently and now I can't remember the last time!

On the new baby front: we are almost 10 weeks along and due August 7th. I am feeling pretty sick all day, every day.  I'd forgotten how miserable the 1st trimester can be.  We have told many friends and family members as well as a few co-workers. I honestly don't feel like it's real though. Even with the sickness, exhaustion, EVEN after seeing the heart beat Tuesday! I don't know, it just hasn't sunk in. Maybe I am trying to protect myself so I don't freak out.  I mean it's a miracle given our infertility, truly. Overwhelming still.  We need a new house. We cannot fit us all in this condo. We may need a new car that can fit 3 car seats.  its these things that stress me out. Maybe once we get some of these big questions answered I can deal with reality a little better?
Anyway, here are a few pics of the twinnies.

Teething, etc.

I am in teething hell. I think, I hope that is what's wrong with our little guy.  For the past week he has been so fussy.  He hardly eats and spends an hour fussing/crying.  He sleeps, then wakes up and cries some more. It's horrible because I am home on winter break and want to enjoy our time together, but I am going nuts.  Sean just went to the store to get some of that numbing gel.  I have been trying tylenol, but its not helping.  He has two bottom teeth in already and they didn't seem to bother him at all.  Ugh, this is so unlike him. He usually just plays and smiles all day, only fussing a little for nap time or meal time. Now he's unhappy all day long. Of course, it doesn't help that we just found out I am pg again, my hormones are all out of whack! That is another post entirely.

On a lighter note: Tater is on the couch sitting with daddy and Gracie, he is crying and I am making bottles in the kitchen.  Gracie takes her pacifier and leans over and drops it on Tate's lap!  He pics it up and smiles and laughs until I am done with lunch. So cute! I was so proud of her trying to help her brother! These moments make twins the best.
